Schneider Creek and Shoemaker Creek
We’re changing parts of Schneider Creek and Shoemaker Creek to reduce flood risks, improve water quality and restore creek habitat. As part of this project, we will also extend the trail network.
We completed an Environmental Assessment for this project in 2023 and 2024. Find out more here.
We’re working through the design process and will continue to provide updates as we approach construction. Construction of the creek naturalization is expected to begin in 2025.

Prospect Park
We’re working to reduce flood risk and increase water quality across Kitchener. As part of this work, we're adding stormwater measures to Prospect Park. In collaboration with the City’s Parks team, we will upgrade park amenities. These changes will help meet the needs of park visitors and improve sustainability in the park.
Opportunities to give feedback on design concepts will come in 2025.

Cherry Park
We’re working to reduce flood risk and increase water quality across Kitchener. As part of this work, we're adding stormwater measures to Cherry Park. We began engaging the community on design concepts in summer 2024. Opportunities for feedback will continue in 2025.
Construction is expected to begin in 2028.

Millwood Park and Carlyle Park
We’re working to reduce flood risk and increase water quality across Kitchener. As part of this work, we're adding stormwater measures to Millwood Park. In collaboration with the City’s Parks team, we are also planning to upgrade park amenities in nearby Carlyle Park.
This project will also include improvements to the trail network in both parks. We will pave existing trails and provide winter maintenance, making them accessible year-round.
We engaged with community members to gather feedback on the design in 2023 and 2024. Once a final design is confirmed, it will be shared on our Engage Kitchener page. We will reach out to community members again as we get closer to construction.
Construction on the Carlyle Park playground and surrounding trails are expected to begin in 2025, and construction on the stormwater feature in Millwood Park is expected to begin in 2027.

Meadowlane Park
We’re working to reduce flood risk and increase water quality across Kitchener. As part of this work, we're adding stormwater measures to Meadowlane Park. We will also update the trail network, paving the existing trail and providing winter maintenance, making it accessible year-round with winter maintenance.
We engaged with community members to gather feedback on the design in 2023 and 2024. Once a final design is confirmed, it will be available on our Engage Kitchener page. Information about upcoming construction will be shared both in-person and online in 2025.
Construction is expected to begin in 2025.

Countryside Park
We’re working to reduce flood risk and increase water quality across Kitchener. As part of this work, we're adding stormwater measures to Countryside Park. We will also update the trail network, paving the trail and providing winter maintenance, making it accessible year-round.
We engaged the community on park use and design concepts in 2023 and 2024. Once a final design is confirmed, it will be shared on our Engage Kitchener page. We will reach out to community members again as we get closer to construction.

Idlewood Greenway
We’re working to reduce flood risk and increase water quality across Kitchener. As part of this work, we're adding underground stormwater measures in the Idlewood Greenway. We are also upgrading the trail in the project area.
We began engaging the community on design concepts in spring 2024. Once a final design is confirmed, it will be shared on our Engage Kitchener page. We will reach out to community members again as we get closer to construction.

Country Hills Park
We’re working to reduce flood risk and increase water quality across Kitchener. As part of this work, we're adding stormwater measures to Country Hills Park. In collaboration with the City’s Parks team, we will upgrade park amenities and improve trails. This will include paving the trail to make it accessible year-round with winter maintenance. These changes will help meet the needs of park visitors and improve sustainability in the park.
We engaged with community members to gather feedback on the design in 2023 and 2024. Once a final design is confirmed, it will be available on our Engage Kitchener page. Information about upcoming construction will be shared both in-person and online in 2025.

Schneider Creek at Manitou Drive
We are changing part of Schneider Creek to improve water quality and protect underground infrastructure. Near the Manitou Greenway, there has been significant erosion in Schneider Creek. We are repairing the creek bed to help prevent more erosion in the future.
Construction is expected to begin in 2025.

Voisin Creek and Borden Creek
We are changing parts of Voisin Creek and Borden Creek to improve water quality and restore their natural flow. Naturalizing sections of these creeks will help reduce erosion and protect infrastructure near these creeks.
We began engaging with the community on design concepts in spring 2024. Once a final design is confirmed, it will be shared online. We will reach out to community members again as we get closer to construction.
Construction is expected to begin in 2028/29.

North Strasburg Creek
We are changing part of North Strasburg Creek to help restore its natural flow and improve water quality. By removing the concrete lining and replacing it with natural materials, we will restore habitat for fish, amphibians and birds. Naturalizing this section of the creek will also help reduce erosion and protect infrastructure near the creek.
