Councillor Christine Michaud
Ward 4

In Office: 2018 - present
Christine is a lifelong resident of Kitchener and has been proud to call Ward 4 home for the past 24 years. She is experienced in communications and public relations, having worked at the Waterloo Record for 26 years.
In addition to her time informing the public on the issues of the day, she has made significant contributions to the City of Kitchener. Prior to being elected she was a member of many city committees, including: the Economic Development Advisory Committee and Downtown Action Advisory Committee, K-W Oktoberfest, the Centre in The Square Board, the Food4Kids Waterloo Wellington Board, the 20,000 Homes Canada Campaign, Junior Achievement, and Big Brothers and Sisters.
Two decades of community involvement coupled with a strong background in communications uniquely position Christine to be an active, fair voice for the people of Ward 4.
Although she will work to represent her constituents in all matters, she is especially focused on infrastructure, responsible development, connecting neighbourhoods, transportation and building a sustainable community.
Christine believes that a connected community creates a better neighbourhood. As councillor, she demonstrates financially responsible decision-making and listens to her community’s priorities.

What's new in ward 4
The 2025 Parks Master Plan saw significant projects and improvements across the city, including in Ward 4. Since 2018, Upper Canada Park continued with major upgrades, including a ‘wagon wheel’ ball diamond and new lighting in 2025. Phase 2 construction began in September, with parking lot renovations, new washrooms, and a sports expansion space with lighting to be completed this year. Additional improvements in 2026 will include the Old Mill Ruins Restoration, a public drinking water pilot, increased waste receptacles, and an Indigenous placemaking fire space.
The new Official Plan 2051 will likely come to Council this spring for consideration. Visit www.engaewr.ca/kitchener2051 for full details. You can view the first draft there and email the Planning team with your thoughts. I will provide further information about the Official Plan, as it becomes available. In the meantime, please share your input with the team and me.
