The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) works to protect people and property from flooding. You can sign up for flood alerts on their website.
Safety tips
During a flood, please:
- listen to local media and follow our social media accounts for up-to-date information
- note key areas under warnings from GRCA
- stay far back from water
- keep pets on a leash
- wait until authorities give an all clear before going near rivers and ponds
Please do not:
- walk in the flooded areas
- drive around road barricades

Here are some quick facts about fast moving water and their depths:
- six inches deep: can knock an adult off their feet
- one foot deep: can push a car off the road
- two feet deep: can cause a car to float with the current
