Community centres are open for essential services only

Ontario is in a modified version of step 2 of the province’s roadmap to reopen. Read more.

All City of Kitchener community centres are closed for registered programs and non-essential services.

Some community centres remain open for these services:

  • public access computers
  • emergency social services such as food distribution and addiction support

Proof of vaccination

Individuals entering a City of Kitchener recreation facility or community centre must show proof of vaccination via a paper or electronic copy of their vaccine record as well as identification. Some exceptions apply. Learn more.  

You can print or download your vaccination receipt or QR code from the provincial booking portal.

Hours

While Ontario is in a modified version of step two of the province's roadmap to reopen, Victoria Hills Community Centre is open for essential services only, including public access computers and food distribution. Please register for a public access computer timeslot before visiting the centre.

Monday to Thursday: 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Friday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday: 9 a.m. to noon

Sunday: closed

Free parking is available off Chopin Drive.

We partner with local organizations to offer free programs and information to our community, including:

Learn English, Make Friends

WMB Church offers this free online adult English class. Tuesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays from 7 to 8 p.m.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Book Club

The Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association runs an ESL book club on the second Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

Register at the front desk.

Newcomer Families Learning Together

This is a free program for parents and children up to four years old who are newcomers to Canada. The program will help parents get children ready for school and share learning activities to do at home with children, led by parent volunteer leaders.

Volunteers are currently offering this program online. You can register by calling 519-570-3054 from Tuesday to Thursday between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Leisure access

Visit our leisure access page to apply for lower registration fees for city-run programs. This does not include programs run by neighbourhood associations or our partners. Check with community centre staff for fee assistance options.


Neighbourhood associations

Two neighbourhood associations support the area around Victoria Hills Community Centre:

  • Victoria Hills Neighbourhood Association (VHNA)
  • Cherry Park Neighbourhood Association (CPNA)

VHNA and CPNA offer programs at Victoria Hills Community Centre, check your copy of Active Kitchener for details.


Gym

Victoria Hills Community Centre does not have open gym time or workout equipment. Register for one of our programs to get active at the centre.


Park

Gzowski Park has:

  • a playground
  • a baseball diamond that is available to rent
  • outdoor ice rink

Washrooms

These washrooms are available at Victoria Hills Community Centre:

  • gender-neutral washroom to the left of the front office
  • men’s and women’s washrooms in the main hallway
  • men’s and women’s washrooms by gym C/D

The gender-neutral washroom and washrooms by gym C/D are accessible and have change tables.

Due to COVID-19, the washrooms are only open to those who are registered for a program.


Computers and Wi-Fi

Public access computers are available when the centre is open. Please reserve a time online or contact the centre for more information.

Use your own phone, tablet or computer with our free Wi-Fi. Choose the “Kitchener Public WiFi” network and follow the instructions that show up.
