COVID-19 updates

All City of Kitchener community centres are open for registered programs.

Some community centres are open for these services:

  • youth and seniors programming
  • public access computers
  • emergency social services such as food distribution and addiction support
  • neighbourhood association programming
  • free space for community use (gymnasium and centre meeting rooms)

Proof of vaccination

Individuals entering a City of Kitchener recreation facility or community centre must show proof of vaccination via a paper or electronic copy of their vaccine record as well as identification. Some exceptions apply. Learn more.  

You can print or download your vaccination receipt from the provincial booking portal.

Parking and transit

Free parking is available off Pioneer Drive.

Grand River Transit (GRT) route 16 stops on Pioneer Drive in front of Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre. Plan your route with GRT’s trip planner.

GRT no longer offers paper bus tickets. Fare payment information is available on their website.

Register for a program

We offer programs for kids, teens and adults of every age, including the popular programs listed below. Check ActiveNet or your copy of Active Kitchener to find the right program for you.

Current programs include:

  • yoga lessons (teen, parent and child, adult)
  • pilates classes
  • fitness classes
  • learn to knit

Leisure access

Visit our leisure access page to apply for lower registration fees for city-run programs. This does not include programs run by neighbourhood associations or our partners. Check with community centre staff for fee assistance options.

Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre does not have open gym time or workout equipment.


During the summer, our splashpad is open daily. Learn more about splashpads.


These washrooms are available at Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre:

  • two gender-neutral washrooms in the lobby (open to all visitors)
  • men’s and womens’ washrooms in the lobby

All our washrooms are accessible.

There are change tables in some of the washrooms.

Due to COVID-19, the washrooms are only open to those who are registered for a program.

Computers and Wi-Fi

Our community centre does not have public access computers, but there are computers available at the Pioneer Park Community Library. Check their website for details.

Use your own phone, tablet or computer with our free wi-fi. Choose the “Kitchener Public WiFi” network and follow the instructions that show up.
