COVID-19 updates

Community centres are open for essential services only

Ontario is in a modified version of step 2 of the province’s roadmap to reopen. Read more.

All City of Kitchener community centres are closed for registered programs and non-essential services.

Some community centres remain open for these services:

  • public access computers
  • emergency social services such as food distribution and addiction support

Proof of vaccination

Individuals entering a City of Kitchener recreation facility or community centre must show proof of vaccination via a paper or electronic copy of their vaccine record as well as identification. Some exceptions apply. Learn more.  

You can print or download your vaccination receipt or QR code from the provincial booking portal.

Bridgeport Community Centre is closed while Ontario is in a modified version of step two of the province's roadmap to reopen.

Parking and transit

Free parking is available off Tyson Drive.

Grand River Transit (GRT) route 5 stops on Bridge Street East, a short walk from Bridgeport Community Centre. Plan your route with GRT’s trip planner.

GRT no longer offers paper bus tickets. Fare payment information is available on their website.

We offer programs for kids, teens and adults of every age, including the popular programs listed below. Check ActiveNet or your copy of Active Kitchener to find the right program for you.

We partner with local organizations to offer programs and services at Bridgeport Community Centre. All programs listed below are free to attend.

Community Support Connections, WALC Fitness Program

Gentle fitness class for seniors.

Tuesdays and Fridays, 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. between September and June.

Get Ready for School, Strong Start

Free program for children who are three years old. Runs from February to June.

Bridgeport Lions Club

Members’ meeting. Second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m.

Girl Guides of Canada, Brownies Unit

Every Tuesday during the school year.

Minds in Motion, Alzheimer Society of Ontario

Physical activity and brain stimulation program for people with dementia and their caregivers.

Leisure access

Visit our leisure access page to apply for lower registration fees for city-run programs. This does not include programs run by neighbourhood associations or our partners. Check with community centre staff for fee assistance options.

Park and trail

Tyson Park is next to Bridgeport Community Centre. The park has play equipment, including swings and a slide.

Walter Bean Grand River Trail runs along the Grand River, across the street from Bridgeport Community Centre.

Outdoor rink

During the winter, volunteers build and support an outdoor skating rink at Bridgeport Community Centre. Join us for fun and fitness all winter long!

There are men’s and ladies’ washrooms in the main lobby of Bridgeport Community Centre.

Both washrooms are accessible. There is a change table in each washroom.

Due to COVID-19, the washrooms are only open to those who are registered for a program.

Public access computers are not available at this time. Please subscribe to this page to get an email when public access computers are available again.
