COVID-19 updates
Community centres to begin reopening on Monday, Feb. 22
Effective Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 12:01 a.m., Kitchener and all of Waterloo Region will move to the Red-Control level of the Province’s COVID-19 response framework.
Some community centres will continue to remain open for emergency social services such as food distribution, warming centres, addiction support and public access computers. Community centres will begin reopening for some programs and services on February 22.
Visitors must continue to register through ActiveNet for all programs. All visitors and staff will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms.

Free parking is available off Margaret Avenue.
Grand River Transit (GRT) route 4 stops on Margaret Avenue in front of Breithaupt Centre. Plan your route with GRT’s trip planner.
GRT no longer offers paper bus tickets. Fare payment information is available on their website.

Gym
Breithaupt Centre does not have open gym time or workout equipment.
Pool
Breithaupt Centre Pool is an indoor pool with public swimming and swimming lessons. Check our public swimming schedule to find a time to come in for a swim.
Park
Breithaupt Park has:
- a splash pad that is open in the summer
- 3 baseball diamonds, available for booking
If you are visiting the baseball diamonds, you can find extra parking off Union Street.
Washrooms
These washrooms are available at Breithaupt Centre:
- two gender-neutral washrooms in the lobby (open to all visitors)
- washrooms in each of the changerooms
- men’s and ladies’ washrooms in the solarium
- men’s and ladies’ washrooms on the second floor
All our washrooms are accessible. There is an accessible changeroom as well.
There are change tables in some of the washrooms, but not in the changerooms.
Computers and wi-fi
Due to COVID-19, there are no public access computers available at this time.
Use your own phone, tablet or computer with our free wi-fi. Choose the “Kitchener Public WiFi” network and follow the instructions that show up.
Rentals
You can rent rooms at Breithaupt Centre for meetings or events. Call 519-741-2502 for more information.
