What's new in ward 7
Happy New Year Ward 7! I hope you had a restful holiday and are feeling ready for 2026.
As we start the year, I want to highlight the exceptional work of Council over the past four years. This past December Council approved the 2026 budget unanimously, with no amendments for the third straight year. This year’s budget that keeps tax increases below Ontario inflation while continuing to invest in essential services and future growth
It includes investments in new parks, trail upgrades, tree canopy expansion, road reconstruction, and ongoing housing support. For more information, visit Kitchener.ca/budget
In other news, the City of Kitchener has launched its new Municipal AI customer service platform to make it easier and faster for residents to access information and submit service requests anytime. Whether you’re checking snow clearing schedules, reporting a pothole, or looking up recreation programs, the system provides quick, reliable answers.
Municipal AI was built with strong privacy safeguards and a focus on transparency and accessibility. As new features roll out, the City will continue listening to residents and improving the tool to meet community needs.
Kitchener has always embraced innovation, and this platform is another step toward delivering more efficient, responsive service for everyone. You can try it out on the City’s homepage at www.kitchener.ca/.
