Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Saturday: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Sunday: closed

Downtown Community Centre will be closed on April 7.


Parking and transit

If you're registered for a program or accessing a center service, you can get a parking pass for on-site parking from our office on the first floor, through the centre’s front double doors.

GRT no longer offers paper bus tickets. Fare payment information is available on their website.

We offer programs for kids, teens and adults of every age. Check ActiveNet or your copy of Active Kitchener to find the right program for you.

Drop-in rates for fitness programs

Book a gym

You can book 45 minutes of open gym time for up to 10 people (including yourself). This program is free.

Book a community room

Book a community room to host your next book club or neighbourhood project meeting! Multi-purpose rooms at city facilities can be reserved for free, for up to two hours and as far as 30 days in advance.

Leisure Access

Visit our Leisure Access (fee assistance) page to apply for lower registration fees for city-run programs. This does not include programs run by neighbourhood associations or our partners. Check with community centre staff for fee assistance options.

Sunshine Café

Closed at this time. Subscribe to this page to get an email when the café reopens.


Outreach and health

Family outreach

The House of Friendship offers family outreach services at the DCC. Please call Maggie at 519-742-8327, ext. 242 to book an offsite appointment.

Sexual health

The Youth Sexual Health Clinic at the DCC is closed at this time.

To make an offsite appointment, call the Region of Waterloo at 519-883-2267 during business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).


Wi-Fi

Use your own phone, tablet or computer with our free Wi-Fi. Choose the “Kitchener Public WiFi” network and follow the instructions that show up.


Washrooms

There are men’s and women's washrooms on the first and second floor.

There are change tables in the washrooms on the second floor.

All our bathrooms are accessible. There is also an accessible changeroom.


Rentals

You can rent rooms at Downtown Community Centre for meetings or events. Room rates are per hour and include HST. Capacities include chairs only. If tables are required, the capacity will be less.

  • gym two (single) – seating capacity 200 people - $64.35 per hour, including HST
  • gym one and two (double) – seating capacity 400 people - $82.15 per hour, including HST

  • senior day program room 1 – seating capacity 40 people - $29.58 per hour, including HST
  • Charles Street room – seating capacity 40 people - $29.58 per hour, including HST
  • multipurpose room A – seating capacity 30 people - $29.58 per hour, including HST
  • multipurpose room B – seating capacity 30 people - $29.58 per hour, including HST
  • multipurpose rooms A and B – seating capacity 80 people - $49.20 per hour, including HST
  • upstairs kitchen (cooking) – capacity 6 people - $31.49 per hour, including HST
  • preschool room – seating capacity 25 people - $29.58 per hour, including HST
  • youth room – seating capacity 30 people - $29.58 per hour, including HST

Note that when booked after business hours a three hour minimum rental is required and additional staff charges will apply.

Depending on the nature of your event other rental costs can include:
