COVID-19 updates

Community centres to begin reopening on Monday, Feb. 22

Effective Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 12:01 a.m., Kitchener and all of Waterloo Region will move to the Red-Control level of the Province’s COVID-19 response framework

Some community centres will continue to remain open for emergency social services such as food distribution, warming centres, addiction support and public access computers. Community centres will begin reopening for some programs and services on February 22. 

Visitors must continue to register through ActiveNet for all programs. All visitors and staff will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms.

Parking and transit

You can get a parking pass for on-site parking from our office on the first floor, through the centre’s front double doors.

GRT no longer offers paper bus tickets. Fare payment information is available on their website.

Leisure access

Visit our leisure access page to apply for lower registration fees. Our goal is to make city-run programs accessible to everyone.

Food and coffee

Sunshine Café

Days open: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

Hours: 9 am to 1 pm

Sunshine Café serves coffee, speciality coffee drinks and hot chocolate.

DCC Diner

Days open: Monday to Friday

Hours: serves lunch at noon

Visit the DCC Diner to enjoy a hot meal that includes:

  • appetizer
  • main entrée
  • dessert
  • coffee or tea (dine in only)

Daily meals cost $10.77 and the monthly special costs $11.77. These prices include HST.

Please call the centre at 519-741-2501 to make a reservation, 24 hours in advance if possible. Check the DCC Diner’s monthly menu to see what we’re serving each day.

You can also get a mini-meal for takeout. Please call the centre or check in at the kitchen for availability.

Hair salon

Appointments are available from Tuesday to Saturday. Please call 519-741-2200 ext. 5077 to book an appointment.

Sexual health

The Region of Waterloo offers a Youth Sexual Health Clinic on Wednesdays from 3 to 5 p.m.


Use your own phone, tablet or computer with our free Wi-Fi. Choose the “Kitchener Public WiFi” network and follow the instructions that show up.


There are men’s and women's washrooms on the first and second floor.

There are change tables in the washrooms on the second floor.

All our bathrooms are accessible. There is also an accessible changeroom.
