Headshot of councillor Jason Deneault

In Office: 2022 - present

Born and raised in Hamilton, ON. Jason has called Kitchener home since 2000.

Upon completing his Diploma from Niagara College in Recreation and Leisure Services in 1999 and his Post Diploma from Georgian College in Therapeutic Recreation in 2000, Jason accepted a FT position in the Recreation Dept’ at a local LTC facility and has remained there since.

During the last 22 years, Jason became involved and active in his workplace Union.  Starting as a Steward, then becoming Unit Chair, Jason was at the forefront in Lobbying, Rallying and advocating for his members' rights and working conditions.  He was fortunate to bargain CBA’s for his workplace always working for the betterment of his co-workers.  He worked alongside the Waterloo Region Health Coalition on a few projects pertaining to LTC and PSW’s leading to some critical and important reports on the state of these 2 issues in Ontario.  In 2019, Jason was elected Financial Secretary of his local Union where he continued to advocate and be available for all the members during the worst Pandemic in 100 years.

Jason has been a strong and loud advocate for better working and living conditions for those in LTC.  He has lobbied at Queens Park and Parliament Hill for key issues such as, National Pharmacare, A National ChildCare program and LTC reform.

He is a frequent caller on local radio to always highlight the concerns that are present today in our Healthcare system.

Jason currently resides in Ward 3 with his wife and 2 daughters.  He enjoys spending time with his family and friends, trying new Craft Beers and cheering on his Pittsburgh Steelers.

Jason is excited to represent his Ward and the City of Kitchener where he will continue to bring the same kind of passion and advocacy that he has shown for Healthcare to make Kitchener a thriving inclusive city for all.
