Water, sanitary sewer and stormwater rates

Current rates:

  • the water rate is $2.7493 per cubic metre
  • the sewer rate is $3.5013 per cubic metre
  • the stormwater rate is $20.1500 for an average sized home, please refer to your bill to see your property’s rate

Minimum charges may apply for water and sewer, calculated at 1/10 per cubic metre per day.

General service M1 customers

The M1 rate is for homes and businesses with an annual consumption of less than 50,000 cubic meters of gas.

  • the supply rate is 13.13 cents per cubic metre
  • the variable delivery rate is 10.7371 cents per cubic metre
  • the federal carbon charge is 15.25 cents per cubic metre
  • the daily fixed charge is 76 cents per day

Fees are subject to 13% HST.

General service M2 customers

The M2 rate is for properties with annual consumption greater than 50,000 cubic metres.

  • the supply rate is 13.13 cents per cubic metre
  • the variable delivery rate is 9.5023 cents per cubic metre
  • the federal carbon charge is 15.25 cents per cubic metre
  • the daily fixed charge is $2.45 per day

Fees are subject to 13% HST.


Low-income Energy Assistance Program

Kitchener Utilities provides funding to the Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), which is administered by the Region of Waterloo and regulated by the Ontario Energy Board. This program helps qualified low-income energy consumers to manage their bill payments and energy costs. It applies to emergency situations and is not meant for ongoing help to pay bills.
