RBJ Schlegel Park

A new community gathering place for recreation and social connection is open to the public. The City of Kitchener is thrilled to welcome the community to RBJ Schlegel Park, the site formerly known as South Kitchener District Park, at 1664 Huron Road.

This 42-acre parkland features diverse park amenities and green infrastructure to support the recreational needs and well-being of Kitchener residents. Completion of phase one features one of the City’s largest playgrounds, a splash pad, artificial turf fields that are now open for booking, a natural turf field, a cricket pitch and pathways.

The 2.3-million-dollar contribution from RBJ Schlegel is the largest sponsorship agreement in the city’s history.

“Partnering with the City of Kitchener for this unique kind of project was an easy decision for us,” said Chief Executive Officer, Jamie Schlegel. “My family has seen how much this city has transformed over the past 60 years we’ve been doing business here. This part of the city is growing rapidly with young, active families looking for recreational amenities nearby. We’re excited to welcome residents and visitors into the park and see so many enjoy and make use of this new space.”

Heffner Lexus Toyota

Heffner Lexus Toyota has been a proud member of the community since 1960. We are excited to have Heffner partner with us to sponsor Neighbourhood Camps, where thousands of children join us for full day, part day or half day camps in their neighbourhood. Heffner's partnership will offer an even greater camp experience and programming at community centres and select schools across the city and in your neighbourhood.

Playball Academy Canada

As part of the redevelopment of the ball diamonds at Upper Canada Park, the City of Kitchener partnered with Playball Academy Canada. Playball Academy Field officially opened in 2019 as one of the four A1 class diamonds at the park that are currently in operation after renovation.

“We’re pleased to partner with the City of Kitchener to help support the development of quality recreational facilities for residents,” said Trevor Nyp, General Manager and Partner at Playball Academy Canada. "We are excited to show the baseball and softball community that we are more than just an indoor training facility. It is our ongoing goal to give back to the game as much as possible and can't wait to use Playball Academy Field in the coming summers to do so!"
