KITCHENER – The City of Kitchener is proud to collaborate with ClimateActionWR,– the group behind Waterloo Region’s first community action plan on climate change. Every spring, Earth Day events are one piece of that puzzle. The city organizes and supports a number of events to observe Earth Day, Sunday, April 22, 2018.
Earth Hour
From the Empire State Building to the Eiffel Tower, Sydney Opera House and Kitchener City Hall, landmarks around the world will go dark for Earth Hour to show their support for our planet. It all starts this Saturday, March 24 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. We invite you to join us along with millions of people across the globe in switching off the lights of your home or business premises for one hour to celebrate Earth Hour. By taking part in this global “LIGHTS OUT” event, we acknowledge our commitment to #Connect2Earth this Earth Hour.
Community clean-ups
Community clean-ups bring neighbours, colleagues or classmates together for a common cause - cleaning up our community. Organize your own clean-up of a local park, public space or school yard. Register your clean-up in the month of April by visiting kitchener.ca/earthday, and receive supplies and support for your efforts to clean-up. #KitEarthDay
