Kitchener – Members of the Kitchener Professional Fire Fighters Association are hoping you’ll help them fill their boots this Saturday, Sept. 14 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For the 14th year, local firefighters will be collecting donations for Muscular Dystrophy Canada. Residents are asked to join firefighters at either the Sunrise Centre or Highland Hills Mall and give what they can.
“The donations collected provide support to people in our community who really need it,” said Captain Patrick McDonald. “This event is an excellent way to get to speak with local residents, even if it’s a simple wave or hello, and work together to make a difference and support such a great cause.”
Members of the community are encouraged to attend and provide their support through means of spare change, although all donations are welcome. Children are also invited to take free fire truck tours and pictures with fire crews throughout the day at either location.
Anyone can be affected by the more than 150 muscular dystrophy or related muscle diseases, and the funds raised through ‘Fill the Boot’ will help to provide support and resources to individuals and their families when facing the realities of this group of diseases.
