  • Mayor's statement on the passing of OPP Constable Tarun Bali
    On behalf of the Council and residents of the City of Kitchener, I extend my sincere condolences to the family, friends, and Ontario Provincial Police family of Constable Tarun Bali, following his tragic line of duty death yesterday, near Hearst, ON.
    Constable Bali was a valued member of our City of Kitchener Bylaw Enforcement team from 2021-2023, prior to joining the OPP. Tarun’s passing is being met with sadness but he will be fondly remembered by his Kitchener colleagues for his strong work ethic, positive attitude, infectious smile, and warm and approachable personality.

    Route 1, Kitchener’s first of eight active transportation routes connecting neighbourhoods to major destinations, transit and commercial areas was designed as part of the 2020 Cycling and Trails Master Plan. The plan aims to create a connected active transportation system within the city. 
  • City of Kitchener celebrates revitalized Centreville‑Chicopee Community Centre outdoor spaces

    The City of Kitchener today celebrated the official reopening of the upgraded outdoor spaces at the Centreville‑Chicopee Community Centre, following a ribbon‑cutting ceremony with residents, community partners and local officials. 

    The revitalization upgrades outdoor amenities originally built in the 1980s and 1990s, ensuring the community centre continues to serve as a vibrant gathering place for residents of all ages.

  • City of Kitchener unveils Kitchener LIVE, a new digital hub for arts and entertainment

    The City of Kitchener has introduced Kitchener LIVE (KitchenerLIVE.ca), a new one-stop digital destination for arts and entertainment across the city. 

    Through Kitchener LIVE, users can explore events and purchase tickets across multiple City-owned venues and event spaces including Centre In The Square, The Registry Theatre, Conrad Centre for the Performing Arts, and The Aud.  The platform is designed to be a trusted source for residents, visitors and artists looking to tap-in to the City’s creative heartbeat.

    Do you have an idea for a great neighbourhood project?

    The LoveMyHood Matching Grant supports projects that bring neighbours together, build connections, and create new programs and spaces that make Kitchener a great community. Past projects include little libraries, community gardens, greening projects, neighbourhood pop-up markets, street parties, art murals, neighbourhood programs and more. 

  • Kitchener Fire Department: Major incident report – June 4, 2026

    Fire crews were called to Tudor Street at 11:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, due to a significant structure fire affecting multiple townhomes. Seven trucks were dispatched.

    All residents are accounted for and there are no reported injuries to occupants. Residents from all units will be displaced, and arrangements are underway to secure temporary housing.
