    This year’s theme, “Prepare to be Water Smart” aims to teach Ontarians the simple steps they can take to prevent drowning and water-related injury by preparing themselves to be in, on and around the water.

  • Help Shape the Future of Transportation in Kitchener

    Should Kitchener invest more in safer walking and cycling connections? Improve transit reliability? Target traffic pinch points? 

    These are some of the key recommendations emerging from the City's draft Transportation and Mobility Plan and now residents are being asked if we're on the right track. Residents are encouraged to review the draft plan recommendations and complete the online survey at https://www.engagewr.ca/ConnectedKitchener

  • Kitchener Market to Welcome Shoppers Back with Outdoor Market on Saturday, July 18

    The Kitchener Market will be open this Saturday, July 18, for a limited-time outdoor experience in the Breezeway, featuring local farmers, makers and vendors. While the Market building and Food Court will remain closed following this weekend’s fire, we are pleased to welcome the community back to shop and support local.

  • Entertainer applications open for Kitchener's 30th annual Christkindl Market

    The City of Kitchener is accepting applications from entertainers for the 2026 Christkindl Market, taking place this year on December 3-6 and December 10-13.  

  • Kitchener City Council Approves Fire Station 8 Housing Development
    At its last Council meeting before summer recess, City Council has approved the plan for the Kitchener Fire Station 8 Housing Development, a downtown project that will bring more housing options and enhanced emergency services to the community. 
     
  • Kitchener Fire Department: Major incident report – July 12, 2026

    Kitchener Fire crews responded to a fire at the Kitchener Market at 1:02 am on July 12, 2026.  The fire appears to have originated within a vendor stall. The suspected source of the fire is unknown but foul play is not suspected. There are no reported injuries. 

      

     

  • City of Kitchener invites Residents to Help Shape Kitchener’s Future

    The City of Kitchener is inviting residents to share “what matters most” as work continues on the City’s next Strategic Plan.   

    Starting this week, City of Kitchener Street Teams will be out in neighbourhoods and community spaces across the city, connecting with residents and gathering feedback.
