What's new in ward 3
Hello Ward 3 and greetings to a new year!
I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday break. With the recent snowfall, this is a good time to remind everyone to please clear sidewalks within 24 hours of a snowfall. You can find more information at www.kitchener.ca/snow. Thank you for helping keep our neighbourhood safe and accessible for all.
Thank you as well to those who came out to the New Years Levee. It was great seeing the community come together for fellowship and fun.
In late December, City Council passed the tax levy for 2026 with an increase of 2.2%. The City’s 2026 budget represents a combined annual increase of $117 for the average household, based on the average assessed value of $326,000 and an estimated water consumption of 170m3. This affordable increase included investing in much needed and resident requested park improvements. Just a reminder that the city's portion of your taxes only represents 30% of the overall increase. To find more details on the 2026 budget visit www.kitchener.ca/budget.
Speeding on city streets is the top concern I hear from residents. The city uses several measures to slow speeds down (traffic‑calming). I will be sharing the locations you’ve shared with me, along with the ones I’ve observed, with our transportation team as they plan for this summer.
A pancake breakfast is planned for the end of April at Kingsdale Community Centre. Keep an eye for more details to come.
My next drop-in Meet and Greet at the Kingsdale Community Centre will be on January 25th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. I hope to see you there and look forward to meeting with you to hear your concerns, ideas and questions.
