KYAC members work together to take action across our community in many ways:
- planning and running events in support of current youth needs
- running the KYAC Youth Awards
- sharing opinions with the City and regional government to help ensure young people are considered when decisions are made
- sharing their ideas and views to municipal government staff
- supporting other youth-focused groups and organizations in our community

Join KYAC
Applications to join the Kitchener Youth Action Council (KYAC)
Applications for the Kitchener Youth Action Council (KYAC) will open on Tuesday, August 4 at 9:30 a.m. and will remain open until August 10 at 4:30 p.m. After applying, applicants will be invited to participate in an interview with members of the current KYAC and the Youth Services Coordinator. Please note that space on KYAC is limited, and not all applicants will be selected for the 2026–2027 cohort.

Eligibility
KYAC members must:
- be between 14 and 24 years old
- live in or attend school in the City of Kitchener
- be able to attend weekly in-person meetings on Thursday evenings
Application process
After you apply, our Youth Services Coordinator will contact you to set up an informal interview with two current members. This group will determine your eligibility and let you know if you're a successful applicant.
