Grand River Accessibility Advisory Committee
The Grand River Accessibility Advisory Committee (GRAAC) is a municipal advisory committee that gives advice on accessibility issues to the councils of the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo, the Region of Waterloo and townships in the region.

About the committee
Ontario municipalities with populations of 10,000 or more are required to set up accessibility advisory committees. At least 50% of members are to be persons with disabilities. This ensures that the people most affected by barriers in the community are involved in the identification, removal and prevention of those barriers.
GRAAC is a cross-disability municipal advisory committee that gives advice to the councils of:
- the cities of Kitchener and Waterloo
- the Region of Waterloo
- the townships of Woolwich, Wellesley, Wilmot and North Dumfries
Members:
- have experience and knowledge in the field of disability
- have a lived disability experiences or are agencies serving persons with disabilities
- must have a willingness to work collaboratively within the framework of a municipal advisory committee
The councils of the participating municipalities adopted the GRAAC terms of reference.
Mission
The Grand River Accessibility Advisory Committee helps the participating municipalities fulfill the purpose of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act by giving advice regarding to the removal of barriers (physical, architectural, technological, informational, communicational, attitudinal and policy/practice).
