Parking and transit
If you're registered for a program or accessing a center service, you can get a parking pass for on-site parking from our office on the first floor, through the centre’s front double doors.
These Grand River Transit (GRT) routes stop near the Downtown Community Centre (DCC):
- ION light rail transit, Kitchener City Hall station on Duke Street West
- route 4 on Weber Street East
- route 8 on Duke Street West
- route 20 on Duke Street West
- route 204 on Duke Street West

Leisure Access
Visit our Leisure Access (fee assistance) page to apply for lower program registration fees. This does not include programs run by our partners. Check with community centre staff for fee assistance options.
Neighbourhood associations
There are five neighbourhood associations in the downtown area:
- Downtown Neighbourhood Alliance
- Victoria Park Neighbourhood Association
- Central Frederick Neighbourhood Association
- Old Berlin Town Neighbourhood Association
- Downtown Kitchener Neighbourhood Association
These groups may offer programs at the DCC or events in the community, check their pages for more information or to get involved.
Family outreach
The House of Friendship offers family outreach services at the DCC. Please call Laura at 519-591-9052 to book an offsite appointment.
Sanctuary
The sanctuary is a dedicated space to be used for private prayer, reflection or meditation.
This space is available when the centre is open. Ask for the access key at the main desk.
Wi-Fi
Use your own phone, tablet or computer with our free Wi-Fi. Choose the “Kitchener Public WiFi” network and follow the instructions that show up.

Washrooms
There are washrooms on the first and second floor.
There are change tables in the washrooms on the second floor.
All our washrooms are accessible. There is also an accessible changeroom.
Rentals
You can rent rooms at Downtown Community Centre for meetings or events. Room rates are per hour and include HST. Capacities include chairs only. If tables are required, the capacity will be less.
- gymnasium one (single) – seating capacity 150 people - $69.61 per hour, including HST
- gymnasium two (single) – seating capacity 200 people - $69.61 per hour, including HST
- gymnasium one and two (double) – seating capacity 400 people - $88.84 per hour, including HST
- workshop – seating capacity 15 people - $22.44 per hour, including HST
- senior day program room 1 – seating capacity 40 people - $32.00 per hour, including HST
- Charles Street room – seating capacity 40 people - $32.00 per hour, including HST
- multipurpose room A – seating capacity 30 people - $32.00 per hour, including HST
- multipurpose room B – seating capacity 30 people - $32.00 per hour, including HST
- multipurpose rooms A and B – seating capacity 80 people - $53.21 per hour, including HST
- upstairs kitchen (cooking) – capacity 6 people - $34.06 per hour, including HST
- preschool room – seating capacity 25 people - $32.00 per hour, including HST
- youth room – seating capacity 30 people - $32.00 per hour, including HST
Note that when booked after business hours a three- hour minimum rental is required and additional staff charges will apply.
