Mobile skatepark

Our mobile skatepark (Skatium) travels around Kitchener each summer. The skatepark is also available for rentals.

Summer schedule

Our mobile skatepark is on the move! Available at various locations for youth ages 8 to 17, from first-timers to seasoned riders, staff will help you every step of the way! Free loaner skateboards and scooters are available.

Days:   

  • Monday to Friday

Join us every Wednesday for the Bluebird Skate Program - where youth build confidence, resilience and belonging through skateboarding.

Times:

  • 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. (for July)
  • 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (for August)

Locations:

  • July 6 to 10 - Fischer Park Skatepark
  • July 13 to 17 - Fischer Park Skatepark
  • July 20 to 24 - Huron Community Centre
  • July 27 to 31 - Victoria Hills Community Centre
  • August 4 to 7 - Centreville-Chicopee Community Centre
  • August 10 to 14 - Centrevilee-Chicopee Community Centre
  • August 17 to 21 - The Aud Skatepark
  • August 24 to 28 - Thue Aud Skatepark

 


Features

Our mobile skatepark features:

  • ramps
  • quarter pipe
  • fly-over box
  • kicker ramps
  • grind box
  • grind rails

Helmets are mandatory when using the skatepark and we can provide extras. Loaner skateboards are also available. For more information, email youth@kitchener.ca.


Rules

  • a helmet is required
  • we recommend using elbow and knee pads
  • do not use the skatepark during wet or icy conditions
  • take turns
  • place all garbage in the containers provided
  • inspect the skatepark ahead to ensure safe conditions

We are not responsible for any loss, damage or injuries resulting from use of the skatepark.


Rentals

You can rent the mobile skatepark for events, which includes:

  • Skatepark set-up:
    • delivery of a trailer
    • set-up of elements and supervision of the program by two staff for three hours
    • ramps, quarter pipe, fly-over box, kicker ramps, grind box and grind rails
    • loaner helmets, skateboards and scooters
  • helmets are mandatory when using the skatepark.
  • The Corporation of the City of Kitchener staff persons are solely responsible to transport, set-up, supervise the operations, and take down the Doon Skatium Mobile Skateboard Park.
  • for rentals not on city property, the renters must provide a Certificate of Liability Insurance (minimum coverage $2 million) including The Corporation of the City of Kitchener as an additional insured.
