Labour Day holiday 2024: What’s open and closed in Kitchener

Most city facilities have modified hours over the Labour Day long weekend.

Have fun and stay safe this holiday weekend! Remember, fireworks are not allowed to be set off on the Labour Day long weekend. To learn more about when and where fireworks are permitted, visit kitchener.ca/Fireworks.

For fireworks complaints, call the Waterloo Regional Police Service non-emergency line at 519-570-9777. In the event of an emergency or dangerous situation, always call 911.

City Hall

Kitchener City Hall will be closed for Labour Day on Monday, Sept. 2. Services normally offered by staff will be available again starting Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 8:30 a.m.

Pools and splashpads

City of Kitchener splashpads and outdoor pools are open on Monday, Sept. 2:

All City of Kitchener outdoor pools will close for the season at the end of the day on Monday, Sept. 2.

City of Kitchener indoor pools are closed on Monday, Sept. 2.

Kitchener Market

The Kitchener Market is open for the farmers’ market on Saturday, Aug. 31, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The market will be closed as usual on Sunday, Sept. 1, and Monday, Sept. 2.

Kitchener Public Library

All Kitchener Public Library locations will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 1, and Monday, Sept. 2.

Community centres

All community centres will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2.

Kitchener Golf

Doon Valley and Rockway golf courses are open on Monday, Sept. 2. Visit kitchenergolf.ca to book a tee time.

The Aud

The Aud will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2.

Community arenas

All community arenas are closed from Saturday, Aug. 31 to Monday, Sept. 2.

Budd Park

Budd Park indoor sports facility and offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, while the outdoor sports fields will be open for scheduled rentals.
