The City of Kitchener Celebrates Earth Day
Kitchener, Ontario— Today, the City of Kitchener joins individuals and organizations across the globe to celebrate Earth Day. This year’s theme is “our power, our planet.”
EarthDay.org is inviting the whole world to unite behind renewable energy, and to triple the global generation of clean electricity by 2030. Energy conservation and generating renewable energy are two of the three pathways outlined in our second-generation Corporate Climate Action Plan - Pivot: Net-Zero. In April 2024, the City of Kitchener committed to net-zero corporate emissions by 2050. An update on our progress will be presented to council on Monday, May 5.This report will include an update on corporate greenhouse gas emissions and our progress on 47 action items over the past year.
