Call for applications for the City of Kitchener’s RISE fund

The City of Kitchener’s Racialized and Indigenous Supports for Equity (RISE) Fund is accepting applications for the spring intake beginning April 1. Applications will be accepted until Thursday, May 1, 2025.

The community grant provides support for Black, Indigenous and racialized community-led organizations, programs, initiatives or events designed to decrease inequities and increase opportunities and well-being for those communities in Kitchener. This opportunity is open to registered charities and not-for-profit organizations as well as new and grassroots groups who are not registered as a charity or not-for-profit organization.

Since 2022, the RISE Fund has awarded $396,789 in grants to Black, Indigenous and other racialized community-led programs, projects and events. In 2025, the fund has a budget of $150,000 with $75,000 available this funding cycle, and with the following maximums and minimums:

  • maximum annual grant amount for groups: $10,000

  • minimum annual grant amount for groups: $1,000

  • maximum for events: $5,000

Applications can be submitted online and in person at all City of Kitchener community centres. Paper copies are also available at all community centres upon request. Applications can be submitted in languages other than English, with translation or interpretation services will be provided upon request. The deadline to apply is Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
