Check out the programs in advance

Active Kitchener is your complete guide for all recreation and leisure programs offered by the city and neighbourhood associations that begin in January 2025. The winter issue of this program guide will be delivered to homes across the city starting this week and is currently available as a downloadable PDF on our website, kitchener.ca/ActiveKitchener.

You can preview the winter program offerings on ActiveNet, and add programs to a wish list in advance, and then add to your cart quickly and easily on registration day. If you need help searching for programs online, check out this helpful video.

What’s new this winter?

New in 2025, we're launching Kitchener Swims, a learn-to-swim program based on the Lifesaving Society’s Swim for Life program for lifeguarding, swim lessons, and drowning prevention. Kitchener Swims will teach basic swim skills for safe water activities and introduce advanced skills for lifesaving, lifeguarding, and aquatic sports. The swim level names have changed, so get to know your next swim level before registration day. Kitchener.ca/KitchenerSwims

Need financial support?

If program fees are preventing you, or a member of your family, from joining a city or neighbourhood association program, you could qualify for a yearly subsidy of $400 per person in Leisure Access fee assistance. Apply for support prior to registration day at kitchener.ca/FeeAssistance.

Need support for a person with a disability?

For individuals with disabilities who may require extra support, the Inclusion Support and Personal Assistance for Leisure (PAL) program makes joining our programs possible and more enjoyable. For more information, or to apply, visit kitchener.ca/Inclusion.
