Caring for our urban forest starts with good data

The City of Kitchener’s Forestry team is currently working in designated neighbourhoods to gather data for the 2027 block pruning program, as part of our Sustainable Urban Forest Strategy. Neighbourhoods are visited in rotation every seven to ten years to have blocks, or sections, of street trees pruned by arborists.

To plan and prepare for our 2027 block pruning, forestry staff are currently conducting tree inventory work in neighbourhoods, which includes gathering detailed information about each tree and taking photos of the trees with mobile devices.

The neighbourhoods scheduled for tree inventory work this fall include:

·       Bridgeport East

·       City Commercial Core

·       Fairfield

·       Pioneer Tower East

·       Pioneer Tower West

·       Rosenberg

·       Trussler

·       Westmount 

When you see City staff in your neighbourhood, please treat them with respect as they work to care for our urban forest.
