Welcome 2025 with Kitchener’s New Year’s celebrations

As 2024 draws to a close and we look back on a year of growth, community and unforgettable moments, it’s the perfect time to come together! The City of Kitchener invites our entire community to join in the new year’s festivities with two free events to celebrate another wonderful year in Kitchener and welcome the new year with excitement and open arms.

Bid farewell to 2024 with a rockin’ good time at Kitchener’s New Year’s Night of Legends. On Tuesday, Dec. 31 from 7 p.m. to midnight, Carl Zehr Square will transform into a vibrant hub of music and festive spirit with live music, free hot chocolate and party favours, skating and two countdowns to 2025. Hear your favourite music live with tributes to Taylor Swift, Pink, Mick Jagger, Blondie and Madonna, then close out the evening with one of Canada’s top Abba tribute bands! There will be an early family countdown at 10 p.m. followed by the official countdown to 2025 just before midnight. Plan your New Year’s Eve at www.kitchener.ca/NYE.

On Sunday, Jan. 5, treat the whole family to a fun day out as you celebrate the new year with the mayor, city council members and your neighbours at our free carnival-themed celebration under the big top of City Hall. From 1:30 to 4 p.m., warm up with free hot chocolate and popcorn, along with light refreshments. Plan for an afternoon full of family-friendly fun with free games, face painting, crafts, skating, a photo booth, balloon creations, live performers including local favourites Juneyt Yetkiner and Ben Rollo, and more!
