“Over the years, Kitchener has been so well served by our volunteer board and committee members who provide advice and help shape the policies and programs which ultimately guide our city,” said Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic. “By ensuring we have representation from all segments of our community, we improve the quality of discussions we have on critical city-building issues. I encourage anyone who has ever wanted to get more involved to help make Kitchener a better city for everyone– applying to a board or committee is a great place to get started!"
Advisory boards and committees play a key role in the decision-making process by offering advice and feedback to Kitchener city council on various issues, including arts and culture, accessibility, downtown development, and the environment.
“The City of Kitchener is best served by boards, committees, and tribunals which reflect the diversity of our community,” said Director of Legislated Services and City Clerk Amanda Fusco. “Anyone interested in submitting an application is encouraged to complete the confidential diversity questions in the application form. Provide as much information on the application form as possible – this helps us understand the benefits, skills and experience you bring to committees.”
The clerk's office will provide Council with a summary of the results of these responses and keep the identities of candidates confidential.
