Speaker series event focuses on clean and affordable energy solutions
The City of Kitchener, in collaboration with the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre (WRSBC), hosts a free monthly speaker series called SDG Talks. The series features talks exploring the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and how we, as individuals, can help create a more socially and environmentally sustainable planet. This year’s theme, Community of Difference Makers, highlights individuals and organizations advancing environmental stewardship, community building and social entrepreneurship.
Join us for our next SDG Talks event on Tuesday, June 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the SDG Idea Factory, 2 King St. W., Kitchener. The panel will focus on SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, exploring how clean, affordable energy solutions can power a better future for your home, your wallet and the planet. Our panel of changemakers includes:
Professor Jatin Nathwani from the University of Waterloo. The founding Executive Director of the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy (WISE), Jatin is an experienced researcher, engineer and author with deep expertise in accelerating energy transitions for a zero-carbon economy.
Teresa Cornwell from Reep Green Solutions. With a lifelong interest in energy sustainability and environmental conservation, Teresa helps people understand and navigate the programs aimed at climate adaptation and mitigation.
Ben Polley from Evolve Builders Group Inc. Ben oversees energy efficient projects across Ontario and internationally, with expertise in natural building, Passive House and Net Zero homebuilding, remodeling and design.
Patrick Boot from VCT Group. Striving to bring intentionality and purpose to the conversation around climate action, the built environment and clean, affordable energy, Patrick leads work that transforms under-utilized spaces into solar energy opportunities.
Join us for an evening of engaging conversation, networking, and light refreshments. All are welcome to attend. This event is free to attend but registration is recommended.
