Remembrance Day ceremonies and City facility closures

Remembrance Day is Tuesday, November 11, 2025. Lest we forget. 

Ways to remember 

  • Saturday, November 8 marks Indigenous Veterans Day, honouring First Nations, Inuit and Métis veterans. 

  • The Royal Canadian Legion Fred Gies Branch 50 will hold its annual Remembrance Day March and Service on Tuesday, November 11, with a parade starting from Ontario Street and proceeding along King Street and Frederick Street to the cenotaph on Duke Street. The service officially starts at 10:45 a.m. 

  • There will be a Remembrance Day ceremony at the Veteran’s Green Interpretive Area, located at the corner of Spadina Road East and Glen Road in the St. Mary’s Heritage Conservation District.  The ceremony begins at 11 a.m.  

  • On Sunday, November 16, at 2:30 p.m., the annual German Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at Woodland Cemetery. 

We also want to recognize Sikh Remembrance Day, held on November 2, 2025 with a service at Mount Hope Cemetery, at the Military Grave of Pte. Buckam Singh. 

City facility hours 

The following facilities are closed on November 11: 

  • Kitchener City Hall Service Centre   

  • Rockway Centre 

  • Bridgeport Community Centre 

These facilities remain open:  

  • The Aud and all Community Arenas 

  • Kitchener Market Food Hall 

  • Most community centres, including:  

    • Breithaupt Centre 

    • Centreville Chicopee Community Centre 

    • Chandler Mowat Community Centre (direct programs are cancelled) 

    • Country Hills Community Centre 

    • Doon Pioneer Park Community Centre 

    • Downtown Community Centre  

    • Forest Heights Community Centre (direct programs are cancelled) 

    • Huron Community Centre 

    • Kingsdale Community Centre 

    • Mill Courtland Community Centre – Satellite Location 

    • Stanley Park Community Centre 

    • Victoria Hills Community Centre 

    • Williamsburg Community Centre 

 If you need access to a public warming centre on Remembrance Day, visit the Region of Waterloo’s list of designated facilities.
