Remembrance Day 2024: What’s open and closed in Kitchener

Some City facilities will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11 for Remembrance Day. See a list of what city facilities are open and closed below.

The Royal Canadian Legion Fred Gies Branch 50 in Kitchener will hold a Remembrance Day ceremony on Monday, Nov. 11, starting at 10:30 a.m. The reading of the fallen begins at 10:00 a.m. The parade will form at 10:15 a.m. on Ontario St., march off at 10:30 a.m. and move along King St. and Frederick St. to the cenotaph on Duke St. The service at the cenotaph begins at 10:45 a.m., and both the parade and the service are open to the community.

In addition, the annual Remembrance Day service to commemorate the dead of the two World Wars as well as the victims of tyranny (Volkstrauertag) will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17 at 2:30 p.m. at Woodland Cemetery, 119 Arlington Blvd., Kitchener.

City Hall

Kitchener City Hall will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11 for Remembrance Day. Services normally offered by staff will be available again starting Tuesday, Nov. 12, at 8:30 a.m.

Pools

All indoor City pools remain open on Monday, Nov. 11:

Kitchener Market

The Kitchener Market is open for the farmers’ market on Saturday, Nov. 9, from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The market will be closed as usual on Sunday, Nov. 10 and Monday, Nov. 11.

Kitchener Public Library

All Kitchener Public Library locations will be open on Monday, Nov. 11, regular hours from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Community centres

Bridgeport Community Centre and Rockway Centre will be closed. Chandler Mowat Community Centre will be open modified hours on Monday, Nov. 11 from 2- 8 p.m. All other community centres will remain open regular hours Monday, Nov. 11.

The Aud and community arenas

The Aud and community arenas will be open regular hours on Monday, Nov. 11. The Whiteway Plumbing box office at The Aud will be closed.

Budd Park

Budd Park indoor sports facility will be open on Monday, Nov. 11 for scheduled rentals.
