Ramadan Statement – March 11, 2024

Assalam alaykum.

As we embark upon the blessed month of Ramadan, on behalf of Kitchener City Council, I extend my heartfelt wishes to the Islamic community in Kitchener and everywhere. Ramadan is observed by Muslims around the world, where they fast without food or water from sunrise to sunset for 30 days. The month is filled with prayer, charity-giving, strengthening community bonds and self-accountability.

I encourage all residents to take this opportunity to learn more about Ramadan and to extend kindness and understanding to our Muslim neighbours. By coming together in solidarity and respect, we strengthen the fabric of our community and celebrate the rich diversity that makes Kitchener and our country such a special place for everyone.

May this Ramadan be a time of peace, blessings, and spiritual growth for all who observe it.
