Modernizing municipal fleet management with AI
As part of the City of Kitchener’s Pitch Kitchener initiative, supported by Communitech’s OVIN-supported Fast Track Cities program, local startup TextGenetic is piloting an AI-powered platform to improve municipal fleet operations. The system offers predictive maintenance, real-time analytics and environmental tracking to help reduce costs, minimize breakdowns and support sustainability goals.

Tackling operational complexity
Fleet management involves balancing budgets, maintenance and environmental impact. TextGenetic’s platform uses historical work orders and telematics data to forecast potential failures, enabling proactive maintenance. It also supports financial planning through lifecycle cost analysis and break-even modelling, helping cities make informed decisions about vehicle repair and replacement.
Pilot partnership with the City of Kitchener
Selected through Pitch Kitchener, TextGenetic is one of three startups piloting solutions for various departments in 2025. The pilot aims to reduce downtime, extend vehicle lifespans and lower maintenance costs while advancing environmental goals. Early results show the platform is delivering actionable insights to city staff.
Once the pilot wraps up, the City will be evaluating long-term adoption of a predictive maintenance platform to become a key part of Kitchener’s digital infrastructure for smarter, more sustainable city operations.
