Kitchener’s Growing Together East: Drafts, Open House & Office Hours Announced

The City of Kitchener has released new draft material on land use and zoning, scheduled a public open house and arranged for one-on-one office hours as it moves forward with Growing Together East. This project will update the planning framework for the three Major Transit Station Areas (MTSAs) not updated during the previous phase of Growing Together: Block Line, Fairway, and Sportsworld. The project will enable and encourage responsible growth in the coming years.

The community is invited to participate in a public open house on Wednesday, Feb. 26 from 4-7 p.m. at the Conestoga Room in Kitchener City Hall. The Growing Together East team will provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about and discuss the proposed planning framework.

Those unable to attend can email their questions and comments to growingtogether@kitchener.ca by Feb. 28.

New draft material is also available on the project’s Engage Kitchener page, including the Land Use and Zoning Brief. It contains important information for landowners, developers and consultants. Other updates include background memos on transportation, noise and market studies, as well as a draft priority streets map and engagement summary.

Landowners within the study area can engage with staff about property-specific requests and feedback in one-on-one meetings available on Feb. 11, 13, 18, and 20 from 1-4 p.m. Appointments can be scheduled via email at growingtogether@kitchener.ca. Landowners interested in making submissions on specific properties are encouraged to review the submission requirements and provide written materials by Feb. 28.

All comments and submissions will be considered in the report to Kitchener council in Spring 2025. Please note, draft materials are subject to change based on community dialogue and collaborator input.
