Kitchener in Bloom garden program ends season with free event featuring expert gardeners

Join the City of Kitchener as we celebrate the gardening efforts of residents who have helped to make Kitchener a greener, more vibrant, and sustainable place to live.

Kitchener in Bloom is the city’s annual garden recognition program where residents acknowledge the incredible work their neighbours have put into creating and maintaining their gardens throughout the season, from flowerbeds to balcony boxes, rain gardens, rock gardens, and community gardens.

The city will host a Kitchener in Bloom appreciation event on Saturday, September 20 from

3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Growing Together Community Garden on Fourth Avenue in Kitchener. Everyone is welcome to attend. The event is free, parking is available at Kingsdale Community Centre and registration is not required.

Expert gardeners will be on hand to provide gardening advice with an opportunity to ask questions:

  • Spencer Hauck, Horticulturalist & Garden Design Expert

  • The Suburban Gardenista, Certified Pollinator Steward with Pollinator Partnership Canada

  • A Waterloo Region Master Gardener

City staff will share information about the Love My Hood Matching Grant that supports neighbourhood greening projects. Free crafts for the kids and light refreshments will be available (while quantities last) as well as giveaways throughout the afternoon.
