Kitchener hosts National Health and Fitness Day celebration

The City of Kitchener is hosting a special event at the Kitchener Rangers Outdoor Fitness Area in Victoria Park this Saturday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in celebration of National Health and Fitness Day, featuring a professional demonstration of the outdoor gym equipment at noon.

National Health and Fitness Day promotes improving our well-being by making physical activity part of our daily lives. Regular physical activity is important for healthy growth and development and can help prevent chronic diseases like cancer, heart disease and diabetes, and can improve our mental health. It is also a chance to promote local health, recreation, sports, and fitness amenities available throughout the city, from trails to parks, community centres, pools, arenas, and unique facilities like the Kitchener Rangers Outdoor Fitness Area.

Everyone is invited to join the free celebration! Bring the family and explore the Kitchener Rangers Outdoor Fitness Area, created by a group of neighbourhood champions, community members, and sponsors, including:

  • Kitchener Rangers
  • Kitchener Sports Association
  • City of Kitchener - Love My Hood
  • Kitchener Rotary
  • Sunlife Centre for Healthy Communities (Wilfrid Laurier University)
  • Price Health
  • YMCA

Healthy snacks will be available, while quantities last.

Living healthier can be as simple as going for a walk, riding a bike, gardening, or building a free, fun outdoor workout into your healthy living routine.
