Kitchener hosts April Pools Month to promote water safety
Water safety is no joke. In Canada, drowning is the number one cause of unintentional injury death among children 1-4 years of age, and the second leading cause of preventable death for children under 10 years of age (Lifesaving Society of Ontario, 2024).
To help further promote water safety, drowning prevention, and safe swimming behaviour, the City of Kitchener is hosting April Pools Month from April 1 to 30. Attend public swims offered every Saturday and Sunday throughout April at city pools and the proceeds will support City of Kitchener Water Smart safety programs. Public swim admission guidelines and public swim fees will apply.
Join us at any of the following pools:
Forest Heights Pool (253 Fischer Hallman Road)
Breithaupt Centre Pool (350 Margaret Avenue)
Grand River Rec Complex (600 Heritage Drive)
Throughout April the city will also have free water safety resources available at all indoor pools.
