Grants approved for 53 groups in Kitchener

Council approved $233,653 in grants to assist organizations and groups providing services to the Kitchener community in the areas of arts and culture, special events, sports and recreation, and community support and development.

Council approves updates to the Great Places Awards program

Council has approved two changes to the Kitchener’s Great Places Awards (KGPA) program. A new award category, the Affordable Housing Solutions Award, has been established to recognize innovation in delivering much-needed affordable housing in Kitchener. Additionally, an amended award-selection approach has been introduced to streamline the selection process for the Mike and Pat Wagner Heritage Awards, aligning it with other award categories. This will help to modernize and streamline the KGPA program while showcasing and celebrating excellence in city-building. The proposal will be supported within the existing KGPA budget and will launch with the 2025 award program.
