Help shape the City’s 2023 budget

The City of Kitchener invites residents to help shape its budget for 2023. The easiest ways to share your budget priorities are:

  • to take our budget survey before Tuesday, Jan. 17, or

  • by registering as a delegate for the 2023 Budget Public Input Night. Delegations will take place during the Finance and Corporate Services committee meeting scheduled for 7-9 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2023. You can register online or by sending an email. The deadline to register to speak via video is 5 p.m. The deadline to register to speak in person at City Hall is 7 p.m.

In the proposed 2023 budget, there is $1.5 million available that council can allocate toward strategic investments. This funding is available due to electricity savings from the city-wide conversion to LED streetlights and additional investment income due to interest rate increases. There are seven proposed investment options which fall into the following themes:

  • housing for all

  • creating a green city

  • wellbeing and belonging

For more information on the investment options or the 2023 budget in general, visit our budget web page, where you can download the proposed budget document.

The final staff proposed budget is set to go to Council on Feb. 2, 2023. To stay up-to-date on the 2023 budget, subscribe to the city’s budget engagement web pages.
