Emergency Preparedness Week is a reminder to plan for every season

During National Emergency Preparedness Week (May 5 to 11), the Region and its partners will hold events to help people prepare themselves and their families for emergencies throughout the year.

“Individuals should understand the risks for emergencies in every season so they can be better prepared when an emergency happens,” says Gina Cliffe, Assistant Deputy Fire Chief of Cambridge. “Completing a few basic steps like creating an emergency plan and building an emergency kit will help you take care of yourself and your loved ones during an emergency.”

The public is invited to a number of events next week:

  • May 4: City of Cambridge Emergency Management booth at the 50 Year Anniversary event of the 1974 Cambridge Flood, hosted by the Fire Hall Museum in Cambridge from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • May 6-8: City of Kitchener Emergency Management Week pop up event at Kitchener City Hall in the Rotunda from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • May 9-10: City of Kitchener Emergency Management Week pop up event at Fairview Mall from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • May 11: City of Kitchener Emergency Management Week pop up event at the Kitchener Market from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
