City of Kitchener seeks artists for three creative and mentorship opportunities
The City of Kitchener is inviting applications from local artists for several exciting opportunities at the 44 Gaukel Creative Workspace (44G). These programs offer artists the chance to create artworks that will add their style and imagination to the space, or to join the upcoming cohort of a mentorship program pairing established and emerging artists to share knowledge and creativity.
44G Mentorship Matchup
The 44G Mentorship Matchup program is an experimental and evolving program that pairs emerging or early-career artists (mentees) with established professional artists (mentors) to address a variety of project-specific goals and gaps in the regional arts scene. The City is offering an in-person drop-in information session on Wednesday, May 20 from 5 to 7 p.m. at 44 Gaukel for artists interested in the program to ask questions.
Applications for mentors are open from May 1 to June 5, and applications for mentees are open from June 19 to July 24.

The Beasting digital mural mashup
Digital visual artists can apply to help create a very special capstone for The Beasting, an exquisite corpse-making project that produces collaborative artworks by various artists using limited time and materials. Two conjoined murals on the 44 Gaukel exterior will assemble six contributions to create an inspiring presence over Gaukel Block and celebrate 100 contributors to The Beasting since 2020.
Applications are open until June 15.
