City of Kitchener recruiting for summer positions
The City of Kitchener is looking for enthusiastic, responsible, and creative staff to be part of our team this summer! These summer employment opportunities offer a great learning experience for youth and help to build leadership, team building and program planning skills while providing a fantastic summer experience. We are now accepting applications for summer 2025.
Each year, the City of Kitchener hires over 200 staff to help deliver summer camp and youth drop-in programs in neighbourhoods across the city, including:
- neighbourhood camp coordinators (18+) and camp leaders (15+),
- youth drop-in coordinators and leaders (18+),
- summer inclusion coordinators and inclusion support workers (18+),
- lifeguards (15+) and aquatics staff (14+).
As a part of our neighbourhood camp team, staff lead indoor and outdoor activities for children ages 4-13. Youth drop-in staff deliver recreational programs at community centres such as sports, art and crafts, and games for youth ages 12 –17. Youth leaders with Doon Skatium help supervise skateboarders and lead games and activities for children and youth ages 8-17. Inclusion support staff provide one-on-one support to children with disabilities to help them participate in summer camp activities.

A Summer Hiring Expo, to explore employment opportunities with the City of Kitchener, will be held on Saturday, Jan.11, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kingsdale Community Centre. Meet with children’s services, youth programs, aquatics, inclusion, parks, and human resource staff and attend one of our free interactive workshops: ‘Ace your Interview’ and ‘Job Applications, Resumes and A.I.’
