City of Kitchener proud to celebrate National AccessAbility Week 2025

The City of Kitchener proudly celebrates National AccessAbility Week (May 25 to 31) and this year’s theme of “Breaking barriers together: Paving the way for an inclusive future.” As a proud partner of the Life Made Accessible committee, the City of Kitchener is dedicated to inclusion and accessibility, so that everyone, regardless of ability, has an equal opportunity to participate in activities that are important to them.

In celebration of National AccessAbility Week 2025, the City of Kitchener, Independent Living Waterloo Region (ILWR) and community partners of the Life Made Accessible committee are proud to present the Waterloo Region Accessibility Tradeshow and Conference on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at RIM Park in Waterloo. All are welcome to attend, and admission is free.

This year’s event promises something for everyone. Innovators, professionals and experts will come together to showcase the latest advancements in accessibility. Expect cutting-edge technology, networking opportunities and a wide variety of everyday products and services that support people with disabilities. The day will include a tradeshow element, a Sensory Room filled with adaptive toys and sensory aids, and two panel discussions entitled ‘Interdependence and Breaking Down Social Barriers’ and ‘Creative, Community Connections’.

The Life Made Accessible committee comprises Independent Living Waterloo Region, City of Kitchener, City of Waterloo, City of Cambridge, Community Support Connections, Canadian Hearing Services, KW Habilitation, KW AccessAbility and Bridges to Belonging.

The City of Kitchener works every day to create a more accessible and inclusive community for its residents, from assistive devices and support to inclusive programs and activities, to how we design our community spaces.
