City of Kitchener offers Toonie Swims for a good cause
Gather your friends and family to celebrate Family Day (Monday, February 16) at your local indoor pool with a fun, recreational swim while supporting a good cause. The City of Kitchener invites swimmers of all ages to dive into Toonie Swims on designated 2026 Statutory Holidays - only $2 per swimmer for Family, Public and Be U swims. It’s an easy way to get active, spend time with family or friends, and give back at the same time. See the Family Day Swim Schedule on Activenet.
Proceeds from the Toonie Swims will support the Swim to Survive and Drowning Prevention programs offered by the City of Kitchener. Swim to Survive is a survival training program that offers Grade 3 and Grade 7 classes free 60-minute lessons focused on the skills needed to survive an accidental fall into deep water. Skills taught include forward rolling into deep water, treading water for one minute and swimming 50 metres.
The City of Kitchener promotes drowning prevention through awareness, education, and safety programs all year long. The proceeds from the Toonie Swims will also help to keep these programs viable by offsetting program costs.
Grab your swimsuit, bring a friend, and make a splash for a good cause. Additional Toonie Swims in 2026 will include Good Friday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.
