City of Kitchener offers additional payment options during Canada Post strike

Canada Post has announced a national strike, effective Nov. 15, 2024. Mail service to and from the City of Kitchener is impacted. Payment due dates for property taxes, utility bills and parking tickets will not change, and customers are responsible for keeping payments up to date.

The City of Kitchener is offering additional bill payment options during the Canada Post strike, including online, in person and community centre drop-off.

Bill payment options

During the postal strike, utility and property tax bills can be paid:

1. Online or telephone banking
2. Online at Kitchener.ca/eBilling
3. Pre-authorized withdrawal from your bank account
   • To register for pre-authorized payments call 519-741-2450 or email revenuecustomerservice@Kitchener.ca
4. In person - at City Hall or your bank branch during regular business hours
   • City Hall, ground floor (200 King St. W) Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
5. Drop off boxes – located at City Hall or any Kitchener Community Centre (cheques only, delivered in a sealed envelope addressed to the appropriate department.)

Parking and by-law infraction tickets can be paid:

1. Online – at www.kitchener.ca/parkingtickets or directly through our ticket payment portal.
2. In person - at City Hall (200 King St. W) or the by-law enforcement office (33 Ontario Street N), Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
3. Drop box – Drop off a cheque with your ticket in a payment box on Young St outside of City Hall.

Vendor payments

Vendor invoice payments will continue to be processed and paid by EFT (electronic fund transfer) or cheque as normal. Cheques will be held and not mailed during the postal strike. To make arrangements for pick up, please email accountspayable@kitchener.ca.
