City of Kitchener launches snow plow naming contest for a second year

Last year, the City of Kitchener asked residents to submit name suggestions for City snow plows and received thousands of fun and creative ideas. Six names were selected in a community vote, and you might have seen some of those named plows clearing city streets this season! Starting today, the City of Kitchener is launching the snow plow naming contest for a second year and is asking the community to help name six more snow clearing vehicles for next winter.

We selected 12 more names from the list submitted by residents last year and want to hear your favourite six! In the running are: Winter Warrior, Road Runner, Mighty Morphin’ Plower Ranger, Scoopy Doo, Lord of the Wing, Say it Ain’t Snow, Buzz Iceclear, The Blizzard of Oz, Storm Trooper, Frosty the Snowplow, Flurrious George, and Baby Snowda.

From today until March 4, you can cast your vote online at engagewr.ca/SnowPlow2024 or by submitting a paper ballot in one of the ballot boxes at Kitchener City Hall, Centreville Chicopee Community Centre, Chandler-Mowat Community Centre, Country Hills Community Centre, Forest Heights Community Centre, Huron Community Centre, Mill Courtland Community Centre, Stanley Park Community Centre, or Victoria Hills Community Centre.

The winning names will be announced in the spring, and the snow plows with their new names will be unveiled later this year.
