City of Kitchener hosting Westmount “walkshop” as part of Kitchener 2051
The City of Kitchener is continuing its work on Kitchener 2051, a new official plan that will guide how the city grows and evolves over the next 25 years. This plan will help shape how Kitchener can grow as a city that is connected, caring, resilient and inclusive.
As part of this work, the City is reviewing its Cultural Heritage Landscape (CHL) policies. CHLs are areas that have cultural, historical, or community significance. These are places where buildings, streetscapes, natural features and shared stories come together to reflect the character and identity of a neighbourhood.
Building on conversations held in Fall 2025 about CHLs in the Caryndale, Rockway, Queen’s Boulevard and Pandora neighbourhoods, the City of Kitchener is now advancing work on the Westmount East and West Neighbourhood CHL.
To support this next phase, residents are invited to take part in an upcoming “walkshop,” a walking workshop that will explore the Westmount neighbourhood, learn about its cultural heritage features, discuss what makes it special and how it can be conserved.
The Westmount East and West Neighbourhood CHL Walkshop will take place on Thursday, March 26 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. The meeting point is the intersection of Union Boulevard, Rusholme Road and Dunbar Road.
