Applications now being accepted for Love My Hood grant selection committee

The City of Kitchener is looking for volunteers with a passion for community building to serve as members of the Love My Hood Matching Grant Selection Committee. The Love My Hood Matching Grant supports new resident-led projects and neighbourhood initiatives across the city.

The Love My Hood Matching Grant Selection Committee works alongside City staff to review and select creative and diverse resident-led projects seeking support through the Love My Hood Matching Grant. Grants are awarded in an equitable and fair manner to ensure that each successful application meets the grant criteria as approved by Council.

The Love My Hood Grant Selection Committee is comprised of ten (10) members, including four city staff and six resident volunteers, and seeks to have representation reflective of the broad diversity of the community. Committee members should be comfortable sharing ideas, suggestions and feedback in a group setting, and be able to take part in respectful collaboration to build consensus. To be eligible to serve on the committee, volunteers must:

  • live, work or own property in Kitchener
  • be at least 14 years of age
  • be available for at least 4 meetings per year (March, May, August and November) typically in the evening. Additional time will be required to review and comment on grant applications
  • commit to a two-year term beginning February 2024

Applications are now being accepted and can be submitted online. The deadline to apply is Friday, Jan. 26, 2024. To learn more about the Love My Hood Matching Grant, or to apply to serve on the grant selection committee, visit www.kitchener.ca/volunteer.
