The City of Kitchener reminds drivers to slow down and be aware of winter road conditions
The City of Kitchener is reminding drivers that by taking a few simple precautions, we can make sure everyone gets where they’re going safely.
Here are a few safety tips for winter driving:
-
Slow down, leave space, stay alert. Icy roads reduce traction and can dramatically increase braking distance.
-
Clear all snow from your vehicle before driving. Full visibility protects you and everyone around you.
-
Check the weather before you go and adjust travel plans when conditions deteriorate. Driving smart means arriving safe.
Slowing down, increasing following distance and staying alert remain the most effective ways to prevent collisions. Traffic collisions are not accidents; they always have a cause. That means they can be prevented.
