Thanksgiving weekend 2025: what’s open and closed

Many City of Kitchener services and facilities will close or have modified hours on Monday, October 13, 2025.

Facilities, activities and events available on Thanksgiving Monday

  • The Sportsworld, Lions and Grand River arenas open at 4 p.m. for regular programming

  • Public swims at the Grand River Recreation Complex: 2:30 to 4 p.m., 4:15 to 5:45 p.m., and 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Facility closures

The following facilities are closed on October 13:

  • Kitchener City Hall Service Centre

  • All City community centres

  • All City pools except Grand River Recreation Complex (see above)

  • All Kitchener Public Library locations

  • Kitchener Market food hall

  • The Aud (open for prebooked rentals) and The Don Mclaren Arena
